Who we are

Lawyers-and-Solicitors.com is run by Dot Solutions, Camberwell 11, NW6 7XT, Killburn, UK. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about anything in it at lawyers-and-solicitors@gmail.com.

Information about solicitors and law firms

The directory lists law firms and their offices. Listings hold business contact details: the firm's name, address, telephone and fax numbers, email address, website, DX address, languages spoken and areas of law. Some of these, such as a named solicitor's work email address, can be personal information. The details come from publicly available sources and from the firms themselves.

We publish them because it is in our and the public's legitimate interest to help people find and contact a solicitor. If you are named in a listing, you can ask us to correct or remove your details at any time.

Information about visitors

Server logs

Like most websites, our server records each request, including your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and working, and keep them only for as long as needed for that.

Ratings

When you rate a firm, we store your star rating with a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address. It lets us allow one rating per visitor per firm, but your IP address itself is not stored with the rating and cannot be worked out from the hash.

Contact form

When you contact us, we receive your name, email address and message by email, and use them to reply. We keep the correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Accounts

If you create an account to manage a firm's listing, we store your name, email address and password (in a securely hashed form), and any two-factor authentication or passkey settings you choose. We use these to provide your account, which is necessary for our agreement with you. We keep them until you delete your account.

Premium listings

If you take out a premium listing, your payment is handled by PayPal. We do not see or store your full card details. We keep billing records for as long as the law requires.

Advertising and analytics

The site is funded by advertising from Google AdSense, and we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. In the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, these only use cookies and similar technologies after you give consent in the message shown when you first visit. You can change your choice at any time using the Privacy settings link at the bottom of every page. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads.

Google uses this information under its own privacy policy. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Our cookie policy lists the cookies used.

We also count visits with Matomo, run on our own statistics server. It does not use cookies or store anything in your browser. It receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you visit, which we use only to produce visitor statistics for this site, in our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used. The statistics are not shared with anyone else.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site for us:

Some of these may process information outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, it is protected by safeguards approved under data protection law, such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email lawyers-and-solicitors@gmail.com. We will reply within one month. You can also complain to a data protection regulator: in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
